Product Introduction
Gelatin is a kind of protein obtained by partial hydrolysis of collagen, which is widely applied for bacterial biochemical identification. Gelatin will coagulate at 2-8℃. It can be hydrolyzed into amino acids by bacterial gelatinase, turning into liquid state and losing solid coagulation property. This product is pre-configured gelatin medium for biochemical reaction identification of Legionella.

For the detection of Legionella species.
Test Principle & Operation Method
Test Principle: Certain bacteria produce gelatinase, also known as proteolytic enzyme. The enzyme can hydrolyze gelatin into polypeptide, and further decompose polypeptide into amino acids, which makes gelatin lose gel property and become liquefied.
Operation Method: Pick suspicious bacterial colonies and perform stab inoculation into gelatin medium. Incubate aerobically at 35℃ for 24h, then place the tube in 2-8℃ refrigerator for 10-30min. Liquid medium means positive result, solidified medium means negative result.

Inoculate quality control strains into the medium, incubate aerobically at 36±1℃ for 48-96 hours.
Safety and Precautions
- The coagulation point of gelatin is about 28℃. Irregular medium coagulation on tube wall caused by transportation temperature and vibration is normal, not quality defect. Warm the tube via water bath or incubator to turn medium into flowing liquid, then place it vertically for use.
- For in vitro laboratory use only. Not for clinical diagnosis or human/animal administration.
- Do not use if the ampoule is cracked, contaminated or deteriorated.
- Dispose of inoculated tubes as biohazard waste following local biosafety regulations.
